Underground Comix


June 30  Mahdi Khene announced the continuation of Yirasuka and opened preorders. He is also reprinting the first Yirasuka issue. The first 100 orders containing both the reprint and the second issue will be accompanied with a 8.5 x 11 print, titled Attack of the 50Ft. Yirasuka


Khene is also opening preorders for L’Uomo Luce (The Light Man), a homage to Italian fummeti; early buyers will also obtain an exclusive 8.5 x 11 print imagining the cover of an hypothetical second issue. Orders should be made on Khene’s webstore: https://www.zuperherocomics.com/ 


July 1  Spread Love Comix revealed their July releases: Spread Love Comix number 29 (with a distinguished cover by underground legend and frequent contributor to the anthology series Denis Kitchen) and Cotton Candy, a collection of original drawings by Robin Bougie. Those two books can be preordered through Spread Love Comix’s webstore: https://www.spreadlovezine.com/ . Note that a few copies of the first issue of Almost Human Anthropomorphic Funnies are still available through the same vendor.


July 2 Ben Boley, who recently released a deluxe colored version of Sex, Drugs & Comixx, is currently open to commissions. You can directly message him on his Instagram account for more information. Copies of his deluxe book are still available for purchase


July 4 The Goofy Funnies collection carries onward to its 19th issue. Dexter Cockburn opened preorders for this issue, which can be bought directly on Cockburn’s webstore. Cockburn is also selling a great deal of original art pages, including some design documents and commissions.


July 8  Readers have gained an exclusive look at Scott Gerard Ruhl’s contribution to Spread Love Comix’s upcoming Almost Human Anthropomorphic Funnies anthology. Recently, Ruhl participated in an interview with The Fanboy Factor’s Anthony Andujar Jr. Cam Hayden features in the free July 2025 57th issue of Calgarian The Scene magazine with a strip titled The Swuppets in Candles. Erika Price releases the first collected volume of her gothic-horror series Worms. Dexter Cockburn announces that all orders made on his webstore will be supplemented with a small, free zine titled Whore Comix, consisting of fourteen commission pieces; this offer extends until July 21 and is also applicable to preorders. Paul Kortjohn reveals the draft art that will be used as the cover of the second Junked issue. The 24th issue of Rad Atlanta Zine is now fully distributed at select locations


July 9 — Cecilia Varhed has translated into English an extract of her newest work, The CBG Hat - conscience be gone. Jamie Vayda presents the cover to Sugarman, first issue in a four issue series. Beehive Books launches a Kickstarter campaign for A Wonder Book, collecting Greek myth illustrations by Das Pastoras based on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s writing pieces; José Villarrubia supplies an essay. 


July 10 — Jules Chanvillard assembled the official movie poster for the documentary on filmmaker Colette Coulombe, set to air at Fantasia’s 2025 edition. Breakdown Press partners with US based Floating World Comics in a distribution deal. Sonali Menezes and Florencia Berinstein will host a tour of the Parallel Histories exhibition at Hamilton’s Workers Art & Heritage Center, followed by a zine-making session, on July 26; visitors can register to this event on WAHC’s website. Dan Goodwin lists the line-up to the next issue of Sundays in Space, including guest cover and pinups. Margaux Bigou reprinted their Motu Toru risograph and is now available for purchase. Trumpet Smash opens presales for their fifth issue of Plunder Shock magazine, which will include a contribution by Robb Mirsky


July 11  French publisher Les Humanoïdes Associés has filed for judicial liquidation of some of its assets, though the business assures the public that this does not affect their release calendar or their catalog. Danny Ferbert interviewed Dexter Cockburn for The Electric Transit. Ryan Heshka will soon start inking their next comic book, more information to come in the following weeks. On July 17, Desert Island Comics will be hosting David Sandlin, where he will be releasing his newest work titled Carl Become Flesh (published by Cram Books)  and showcase his silkscreen art; Nick Bunch will also be present with new material. Dexter Cockburn releases Spooky Funnies, which collects horror-themed content from an array of previously published titles. The Unifying Systems in Catalysis (UniSysCat) has commissioned Rahel Suesskind with art on the topic of chemistry. Robert and Sophie Crumb are interviewed as part of the twelfth issue of the Gard Info e-magazine commemorating the 20 years anniversary of the Vidourle art gallery, initially founded by Aline Kominsky-Crumb and Julie Katan. Matt Lock’s Undead Artifact, a box containing 15 mini zines, is back in stock at the Wig Shop Web Shop.


July 12 Pritty Kitty Lily has screenprinted a bunch of shirts available for a (very) limited time. Luana Vecchio reveals the limited edition hardcover for Doll Parts - A Lovesick Tale, limited to 300 copies and exclusive to SDCC. Marc Makes Comics features in the latest issue of The Village Star-Revue; also includes work by Mat Greaves and Tor Freeman. The ninth issue of the Told to Tell anthology series is open to preorders; the general theme is a reimagining of The Simpsons but in the Lone Wolf and Cub fictional universe.


July 13 Theo Lodge is currently working on the next chapter of his Strigoi series. The forty-first issue of the risoprinted Wobby Club anthology series, titled Get Well Soon, has launched. Juliette Collet completes the first chapter of her next series, Ms. Understood at the Menagerie, and should be available within two weeks.


July 14 — Powerpulps Comics announces a new member, Aubrey Sitterson, author of the currently ongoing Free Planet, and an upcoming Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for James CoatsGalaxy Gods; the collective also launches their substack. Habitats Press launches their Kickstarter campaign with  the hope of funding a second volume of the Habitats optimistic science-fiction literary anthology. Rosalie Gamache presents an exquisite painting, titled Paysage Recouvert I, at the Duran Contemporain’s Salon d’été exhibition, ongoing until September 6. EPHK is now selling their original art on their own and has made many pieces available on a new webstore. Dexter Cockburn shares an extract of his contribution to Spread Love Zine’s upcoming second issue of Almost Human Anthropomorphic Funnies.


July 15 — Laberinto Gris hosts an exhibition for artist Luis Royo titled Riding America, from July 15 to August 28.


July 16  Fantasy Club Books has received a handful of books from Uncivilized Press, available for purchase. Scott Gerard Ruhl has inked his contribution to Spread Love Zine’s Almost Human Anthropomorphic Funnies issue #2. TJ Motte releases the fourth chapter in Gwen & Wendy: Industrial; the author is also interviewed by The Airtight Compendium’s editor. Slap & Tickle by Han Whyte, her latest zine, is now available for purchase.


July 17 — Nick Bunch releases How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes at Desert Island Comics. Mark’d reveals cover art for upcoming Dylan5 album. Pritty Kitty releases her first book, titled Blue Beard and Me, remembering past abusive relationships. 


July 18 — Mahdi Khene displays excerpts of Yirasuka contributions by guest artists. Gosh Comics is currently hiring for a bookseller position, job posting ending on August 1. Paradise Systems now has copies of Not Ready for Life, Ding Pao-Yen’s latest book.


July 19 The 1000000space art gallery hosts the release of Lumpen magazine issue #143, with contributions from artists based in Kansas and Chicago. EPHK is now selling three limited series A3 giclée prints (Hahnemühle Photorag paper, 308 gsm) on their webstore. Misticanza magazine announces their return with a cover by Michelle Reviglio for their 22th issue. Hidden Islands by Cameron Arthur was the star of a release party at Doomed Planet Comics. Dexter Cockbun reveals the cover to a new project titled Fur Burger. Pritty Kitty graduates from an Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC) program focusing on comix creation. Martin Laroche completed their latest zine, Deux heures à tuer à Rawdon, and will be available starting at the Bas-St-Laurent Expozine event.


July 20 — Rahel Suesskind announces that some of her work will become part of an upcoming exhibiton.


July 21 —  The Pint Size Gallery hosts a Mat Greaves art exhibition, zines are also sold on premise. The team behind Nights, Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano, has launched a Patreon page to fund their project. Cutemkultras contributes the back cover to Dan Goodwin’s Sundays in Space. The second issue of Madhi Khene’s Yirasuka is being sent to printers.


July 22 — Jamie Barrows’s War on Badstreet now available. Warparound cover reveal for Scott Gerard Ruhl’s upcoming Futurelux #5.


July 23  Aric Calfee’s Undie Comix Zine #2 now available. Wobby #41 now available, its theme being “Get Well Soon”. Rahel Suesskind selling additional original art pages. Louis Southard received their compensation copies of Flash Gordon Quarterly - Volume 1 and a cookie. Reptile House Comix to publish Do Not Resuscitate by Gabriel Manson Howell in October. 


July 24 — Juliette Collet releases Ms. Understood at the Menagerie, available on their webstore or added for free on all orders. NUTT #1 by Dan Heyer now available for preorders. Mahdi Khene now sells books from international artists, with Jordan Barry-Browne’s Cosmic Slop series being the first in line.


July 25  Richard Blake receives the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award at SDCC.


July 26 — EPHK announces solicitation for their next project titled HARPY, which can be preordered through the publisher’s website (upcoming details). Last Saturday to meet Chloe Lalancette at her P’tit Marché SJB’s table.
